A delicious basic crustless quiche recipe that you'll be able to adapt to suit your own ingredients.
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups cheese, grated (I use a combination of cheddar and Swiss)
3/4 cup milk
3/4 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon all-purpose/ plain flour
pinch salt
pinch nutmeg
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (approx 180 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients until well blended.
Lightly grease a pie dish.
Sprinkle grated cheese into bottom of dish.
Pour egg mixture on top of cheese.
Sprinkle nutmeg on top.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until the mixture is firm and has browned slightly.
Enjoy with a garden salad.
For a heartier variation on this basic recipe, you could try adding cooked diced bacon, diced onion, mushroom, capsicum/ peppers, celery, asparagus, corn kernels etc to the bottom of the pie dish with the grated cheese. Then pour egg mixture on top, as described above. |
